Draghi: the Continued subdued inflationary pressures – Private Business

It said ECB president Mario Draghi at a press conference after the ECB’s interest rate announcement on Thursday.

He said at the same time, inflation has increased recently, due to rising energy prices. Inflation is also expected to rise further in the short term.

if necessary, the ECB is ready to act with the QE program and they are also ready to use all instruments within its mandate. The QE program can be expanded or extended if the prospects deteriorate, according to Mario Draghi.

the ECB president said the ECB sees a stronger growth in the future and that there are signs of stronger global growth, but risks to the economic outlook remain on the downside.

the downside risks come mainly from global factors.

He further said that the ECB’s stimulus will provide support to investment and to sustained gains in employment, supporting consumption.

in Addition, should the fiscal policy support the economic recovery, he said.

at the same time, subdued growth in the eurozone to sluggish reformtakt and all euro area countries need to implement structural reforms, according to Mario Draghi.
