450 suspected IS terrorists arrested in Turkey – financial times

Around 450 suspected IS terrorists have been arrested in a series of coordinated anti-terrorräder around in Turkey, reports the news agency Anadolu.

In a number of coordinated operations grep specialpolis on Sunday a total of about 450 persons suspected of involvement with terrorist organisations Islamic state (IS), writes Anadolu.

Raids took place in at least 18 provinces. Among other things, in the cities of Ankara, Istanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, Izmir, Konya, Bingol, Adana, Sanliurfa, Gaziantep, Adiyaman, Malatya, Ķīlis, Hatay, Corum, Antalya, Diyarbakir, and Van. The alleged terrorists will be examined.

Among those arrested are many foreigners and people suspected of having planned to perform a terrorist attack. Even some children have been corrected.

The largest operation took place in Sanliurfa in the southeastern part of the country. There were about 150 people. 47 arrested in Gaziantep, which lies near the syrian border and is a known hideout for jihadists, according to the news agency Dogan.

60 detained in the capital, Ankara.

the Raids come a month after the attack on the night club Reina in Istanbul on new year’s eve. Abdulkadir Masharipov suspected to have shot dead 39 people inside the club, only 75 minutes into the new year.
