China is showing muscles in Davos with Trump in sight – the Swedish newspaper svenska Dagbladet

This is China’s attempt to take over the leader’s jersey from the united states in the global economic issues.

DAVOS the Curiosity was great, when China’s president Xi Jingping opened the World economic forum in Davos on Tuesday. It is the first time in the forum’s 47-year history that a chinese leader involved. President Xi is accompanied, moreover, by a record delegation in Davos, reflecting the country’s desire to shine on the global stage – particularly in fragile times with the Brexit, the EU-crisis, and Donald Trump as an unsecured card.

President Xi gave a hefty display of self-assuredness, where he trumpeted for the role of China in globalization, trade and economic growth. The word globalization came back every five minutes, and he skrädde not the words of China’s weight in the world.

− After 35 years of reform, China has become the world’s second-largest economy and failed to lift 700 million people out of poverty, ” said Xi.

” It’s not unexpected. China plays a big role in the world economy. Now, it is more about what role the united states wants to play in the world economy. If the united states is pursuing what they say and draws back it’s other players such as China that get bigger play space. It applies as well in Africa, south America and Europe, ” says Stefan Löfven to SvD.
