The person suspected of having leaked secret documents about the tax treaty between Luxembourg and hundreds of multinational companies suspected of theft and money laundering.
The suspect’s identity has not been published by the prosecutors in Luxembourg, but the newspaper Luxemburger Wort reports that there is a Frenchman who previously worked for auditing giant PWC. He appeared Friday before a judge in Luxembourg and served suspicion of a crime before he was allowed to leave the court.
The leaked documents have revealed how large corporations, among them Ikea, have been helped to evade taxes using tax in Luxembourg. The revelation has been the storming around the European Commission’s newly appointed chairman Jean-Claude Juncker, Prime Minister of Luxembourg during the time when the contract was concluded.
