Filippa Reinfeldt on criticism: “It feels weird” – Aftonbladet

Filippa Reinfeldt on criticism: "It feels weird" – Aftonbladet

A month and a half after she left the county policy begins Filippa Reinfeldt work as a lobbyist for healthcare giant Aleris.

During the day, the criticism has grown.

– That there would be these kinds of reactions feels strange, says Filippa Reinfeldt.

This morning came the news that Filippa Reinfeldt, who until the election last fall was Medical councilor in Stockholm County Council, has become a lobbyist with care giant Aleris, where she will join the Executive Committee.

The announcement brought immediate criticism from several quarters, which focused on the county Reinfeldt been involved controlled purchased services the right Aleris.

This afternoon called civil Minister Ardalan Shekarabi (S) to a press conference on the occasion of her new job. He said there that he does not want to “assess the suitability of individuals ‘ethical considerations’.

– However, I can say that Filippa Reinfeldt’s direct transition to a company operating in the public market which, among other things, financed by the Stockholm County County Council raises questions about the need for rules, he said.

“There needs to investigate”

Earlier, Shekarabi said that the government would investigate the need for quarantine rules when it comes minister or secretary of state that goes from politics to the economy.

– There is the light of today’s events need to investigate what should be valid throughout the public administration. That is, even local governments, he said.

Just healthcare sector stands out – mean Shekarabi.

– There is broad support among the population to tighten the rules in welfare, to ensure that tax dollars are used in the operation itself. We now see that there are strong economic interests in the sector who do not want to see those pits. When these interests recruits former decision is a clear risk of conflicts of interest.

Filippa Reinfeldt says she is a little surprised by the criticism.

– Basically I think it is good that there are discussions that have to do with transparency when people move between different sectors of society. But it would be a shame if people with different experiences and knowledge were painted into rigid frames. I rather think it’s great that you can move between politics, business, academia, research and trade union world. It contributes to quality improvements, she said.

“It’s preposterous”

She says that it is absurd to think that she in her role as health councilor would have benefited Aleris.

– Anyone can see that perhaps the world’s largest healthcare procurement took place a few years ago when Saint Göran Hospital procured. It just lost Aleris, she says.

After the election in the fall challenged Filippa Reinfeldt his party colleague Torbjörn Rosdahl of the powerful chief financial councilor – a battle she lost barely.

– No one who has followed Stockholm county council or health care policy or glanced at what I have done may have doubted me until the evening October 16 went into full speed and power to try and like to be a financial councilor. To think that I’ve been thinking some other thought is preposterous, she says.

She says that she – unlike many others – now open with what she should do.

– I have chosen to be transparent, unlike a lot of others who choose to start companies or become PR consultants and then working for other companies. Moreover, there is no basis for decisions or letter back which is not open to journalists or the public to take part of.

During Almedalsveckan last summer was asked Filippa Reinfeldt out of Aleris stand in Almedalen.

– Sure, I sat in Aleris tent and was interviewed, but I sat in a total of nine tents. I was one of several politicians who sat there. There is nothing strange about it.

But none of them have later gone to Aleris?

– No, it has not done so. What I mean is that if you sit and be questioned by a company, it is nothing strange. I have participated in an incredible number of discussions and seminars in Almedalen on various issues. The discussion on the job at Aleris began a few weeks ago.

Do you think this kind can damage people’s confidence in politicians?

– I think it is good that there is a debate, that is fine with transparency and that this discussion is taking place. Then you see if it made any decisions, it will not, I put myself in.
