The FCA does TeliaSonera and the municipal company Gothnet to almost 36 million in fines for alleged conspiracy.

According to the Competition Authority, companies have formed a bidding cartel when the Gothenburg municipality procured data communication 2009. The contract was worth SEK 400 million and expires at the end of this year.

In the lawsuit to the Stockholm District Court is required TeliaSonera of 18.8 million dollars and Gothnet at 16.96 million dollars for breach of competition rules.

Gothnet and Telia Sonera, which is normally competitors agreed that TeliaSonera would not tender a contract. Gothnet won the tender and signed a contract with TeliaSonera as the exclusive subcontractor, according to the Competition Authority.

– We believe that we complied with the laws and regulations that exist but apparently the Competition Authority has reached a different conclusion. But we welcome a trial, says Sofia south, CEO of Gothnet said.

It is forbidden for competitors to fix prices, discounts or other trading conditions. A company that has participated in a cartel may be sentenced to pay a fine or fines of up to ten percent of their annual revenue.
