Drunk doctor loses his identity – Expressen

The doctor was drunk when he sent home a seriously ill 12 -year-old without treatment.

Now the man, who has been suspended from his post since last summer, his license revoked.

Relay doctor should have abused alcohol and narcotic drugs for several years, according to a decision by the Medical Responsibility.

One evening in July this year worked a doctor in an emergency department in western Sweden on suspicion of drunken both alcohol and drugs.

The staff alerted police after the doctor had blown positive in an alcohol test which aroused suspicion of serious misconduct.

– The doctor embarkation body examination which meant both blood and urine samples. The doctor had earlier in the evening then blown in the hospital, where it was confirmed that he had alcohol in the blood, said Björ Blixter, police spokesman in West Bengal, GT last summer.



Repeated vomiting

The doctor had then sent home for a seriously ill 12-year-old with no treatment- even though the patient had recurrent vomiting and was tired.

When the boy came home he should have continued to vomit and must also have had seizures, according to an IVO-notification . Eventually the boy was brought by ambulance to the hospital and was then vigorously dried and had unhinged salt balance.



Papers embroiled

The emergency room in West Sweden therefore made a lex Maria notification to the IVO, inspection of care, where the doctor was described as “mumbling” and “absent” according to relatives.

Now, the investigation is completed, which concludes that the doctor gets his license revoked. The decision of the Medical Responsibility Board (HSAN) says that he had previously been convicted of aggravated drunken driving and despite treatment had recurrent relapses.

The man was a so-called relay doctor. The company that leased the doctor to the emergency department may now påbackning that in the future better check references before employment.
