Rescue Flight hangs in the air – Göteborgs-Posten

Rescue Flight hangs in the air – Göteborgs-Posten

The track does not carry the aircraft. The economy does not carry to cook it. When Save is put into teaches low-cost airlines move to Landvetter. But no one knows where ambulance and police flight to go.

On Tuesday announced Arlanda to Save airport, Gothenburg City Airport, will be phased out.

The 102 employees of the airport company announced layoffs. Yesterday, the employees received no date for when they would stop, until further notice, there is work to do with the light aviation. But the terminal for passenger flights, where some employees are discussing today’s gloomy statement, gapes empty.

– We will all get to go on the run. So obviously you have to search themselves for another job. Some could probably get a job at Landvetter, but there are no jobs for everyone, says Hampus Edlund, ramp workers and shop steward for Transport on Save.

Another 250 people working in the area, in companies directly linked to the airport are facing an uncertain future.

Since the heavy aircraft was stopped in late November, the course is measured and analyzed. Swedavia conclusion is that it costs 250 million to bulldoze large parts of the surface layer and build up the bearing capacity of the foundation. And with a failing economy is not worth the money.

– Asphalt costs money. We prioritize prefer to invest in Landvetter than here, said Karl Wistrand, Vice President of Swedavia.

Passenger Records

This announcement was submitted in the newly built conference facility at the airport, who has ridden the wave of airlines such as Ryanair and Gotlandsflyg increased their passagerartal sharply. 2013 broke new airport passenger record.

But according to Karl Wistrand is not enough. He hovers on the answer if they had charged for low fees from low-cost carriers, but claims that passenger numbers have doubled from 800 000 to 1.5-2 million to the airport to be commercially viable.

The airport has also been up for sale for a year. But the only interested buyers have called for large guarantees, for example regarding environmental permits, according to LFV. It ended with Gothenburg municipality and Volvo on Monday sold its shares to the LFV for a penny apiece, so settlement becomes more practical to implement.

Overcapacity

Meanwhile, Landvetter easily been swallowing the low diverted to the flight ban. According Wistrand, there is overcapacity on the runways in the Gothenburg area.

– Our assessment is that these companies will want to fly from Landvetter, as they have good passenger volumes here in Gothenburg, says Karl Wistrand.

The same analysis allows the municipality and Säve airport manager.

– Fourteen of the destinations we have here is not at Landvetter, so which do not compete with other companies. And the clientele is of course, says Annika Nyberg, President of Cityflygplatsen in Gothenburg AB.

Even if she is not worried about Gothenburg opportunities for good air connections, she is disappointed by the news.

– The is extremely boring. It is my 102 employees affected. My whole focus has been to manage the airport with continued expansion. We also have a business of flying clubs and community airplane that does not exist at Landvetter. We have filled an extremely important function.

Do you see any possibility of continuing with only lighter aircraft on a smaller scale?

– It is not easy for a another actor to take over. I’m not the one to close the door, but it may not feel very hopeful, says Annika Nyberg.

112 operations

The question is where police and ambulance aviation in that case to go. Landvetter has previously shown little interest in the 112 activities that can provide delay of flights when the police receive emergency.

Now, LFV devote three months to find a long term solution for this problem.

An interest group is also being formed by the players on Save flight plastics. One of them is Andrew Bestelid, president of helicopter services company SMA Maintenance AB, previously responsible for the Maritime Administration helicopter-borne air and sea rescue based on Save.

– We have previously looked at whether there has been an opportunity to move to Landvetter. But since it is an emergency activities during alarm affects ordinary activities has been interest from lacking. I can not see today that the social utility airline operations such as police, ambulance, and air and sea rescue can operate from any airport other than Sävedalens in the Gothenburg region with respect to environmental conditions.

– We now hope LFV take this issue seriously and opens to a constructive dialogue with us. It is of course also the former owner of Gothenburg Municipality’s interest, says Andreas Bestelid.

Facts: Save Airport

Gothenburg City Airport, better known as Save airport , was originally a military airport, but was in the late 1970s civil.

The airport is since Monday, wholly owned by the government LFV, since the company bought out the former shareholders of Gothenburg city and Volvo for a penny each. This was done through a dormant option, as the other owners in practice had nothing to say.

The airport is served by several budget airlines and had last year more than 860 000 passengers.

In addition, are instructional flights, smaller business aviation, police ambulance and search and rescue aircraft / helicopters Save.

save is not on the list of a dozen airports in Sweden LFV received the government’s formal mandate to pursue further.

LFV be for three months trying HITT a solution for the non-commercial flights. On a smaller scale, some aviation possibly last year.
