Gothenburg City Airport, in the Save in northern Gothenburg, added down.
It would be too expensive to rebuild the airport so that it can handle even heavier aircraft again, notifies the owner Swedavia, which bought out the city of Gothenburg and Volvo from the airport.
– It would land at about 250 million. From Swedavia page we said then that the investment we are not prepared to bear. This means that we will gradually phase out the airport, says Swedavia’s vice president Karl Wistrand.
The union and the staff has been informed. 102 people affected.
A routine check of taxiways, the plan uses for ground driving to and from takeoff and landing, in November showed that there were problems with the bearing capacity of the soil. The heavier traffic, including Ryanair flights, has since been moved to Landvetter.
Some measures have been implemented since then, but the problem turned out to be too large.
