Long recovery from burnout – Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

Fatigue Syndrome, which many colloquially called burnout, is a very at diagnosis. Suffers a mild form can perhaps return to work part-time after four or five months. A more pronounced form of diagnosis may, however, require a long sick leave, sometimes for years.

– It is very difficult to say from the outset how long it takes. Often extends to sick leave a month at a time, or two if there is someone who has a lot of symptoms, says Lilian Wiegner, chief physician at the Institute of Stress Medicine in Gothenburg.

– The vast majority of patients returning to their jobs, but one begins gradually. You are not sick one day and working hard the next day.

Most people who suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome is terribly tired and not infrequently cognitive difficulties, such as making it difficult to read or work at a computer. The symptoms must have given with him before it is fit to work.

Expectations from the environment of a public figure may also affect recovery negatively.

– For a person who is mass media it must be really hard to constantly feel pressure from constituents and people around. These people need a lot of peace and quiet to wind down, says Lilian Wiegner.

– Is there a person who has beaten the knot on himself, worked around the clock and had very many balls in the air at the same time – then you can not expect to come back to such a situation, because then you become ill again.
