Electronics giant Apple will build a giant data centers in the US state of Arizona. The investment of around $ 2 billion (about 83 billion) is one of the electronics giant’s largest to date.
The facility will serve as the focal point of Apple’s global network and will be powered by 100 percent renewable energy, writes Apple in e-mails to AFP news agency.
Most of the energy is supplied via a new solar park nearby, according to the statement.
The environmental organization Greenpeace applauds the announcement.
-Apple continues to be in lead among the major IT giants when it comes to live up to promises to be 100 percent renewable, and have shown that the solar industry is ready, here and now, to power our economy, says Gary Cook, IT analyst at Greenpeace.
