Consensus on the renewal of Greek aid package – Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet

– I am glad that be able to tell that the work we have done over the past few weeks has paid off. This was a first step towards rebuilding confidence, said Dutch Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem, chairman of the Eurogroup, during the press conference on Friday evening.

On Monday, Greece present a first list of reform proposals to be examined to determine whether they are adequate. These reforms will then be further specified until last April, but Dijsselbloem pointed out that they are free to be completed earlier than that.

– This is a very positive outcome that allows us to gradually return to work together with the Greeks, and hopefully we can start the next week, he said.

Chairman of the Eurogroup also took the opportunity to emphasize the importance of the Greek authorities will commence work immediately to allow time to complete the work in the coming months.

Greece had asked for an extension of six months to create space for a longer-term program of debt relief and incentives, but must therefore be content with four.

– It is about loans and conditions, for those always go hand in hand. This is the way we work, said Dijsselbloem.
