Greece and the European Union agree to an extension – Aftonbladet

Greece’s acute economic problems are over for this time.

Now they have reached an agreement with eurozone finance ministers of extended emergency loans.

– It is done. For four months, said a government source told Reuters.

Greece requested a six-month extension of the financial assistance program from the euro zone, Reuters reported yesterday, citing a spokesperson for the Greek government.

The application followed several weeks of not yet finished negotiating loan terms for continued support to the bankrupt country between the new Greek government and other euro countries.

Now, Greece has passed away the immediate crisis of not being able to pay their bills and perhaps thrown out of the euro.

According to government officials, Greece and the euro zone finance ministers on Friday evening agreed on an extension of four months, writes Reuters.

The aid program will therefore continue after March 1, when the old actually went out. The agreement also means that a planned payout of over 66 billion will be implemented, according to the Swedish radio echo.
