Economy. Broadband and TV company Com Hem buy government Boxer. The deal affects around half a million customers.
Listed Comhem pay 1.33 billion for state pay-TV operator Boxer.
Most of Boxer’s approximately 500,000 customers in the condominium market and use the digital terrestrial television network.
– I think this is a very good deal for both Boxer and Boxer’s customers, says Jonas Lönnquist, CEO of Boxer.
Normal range
Lönnquist indicate that Com Hem offers a greater range of services and products than Boxer:
– Com Hem is a company that’s been with television for about 30 years and investing one billion per year. They have a stated aim to do the best in broadband, telephony and television.
Boxers customers be persuaded to move to Comhem supply and the company becomes a sort of springboard for Comhem who want to attract residential customers.
– So you could express it, says Anders Nilsson.
expansive strategy
Comhem goal is to reach 800,000 residential customers over the next five years. The purchase of the Boxer is part of the efforts to achieve that goal.
But Boxer’s customers should not have to worry about. They can simply continue watching TV via the Boxer, just like today.
– As a customer, you can expect that we will continue to do exactly the same as usual, says Jonas Lönnquist .
the deal must be approved by the government and the Competition Authority to get completed. Comhem expects to complete the acquisition during the second half of this year. Only when the purchase has gone through Comhem expected to announce any change of Boxer’s customers.
But Anders Nilsson do not think the deal should have to encounter any problems of competition authorities. They have so far seen the Boxers and Comhem markets as separate, according to Nilsson.
