150 Southern employees can get going – Västerbotten Courier

Economy. forestry group Södra has initiated codetermination negotiations to dispose of with 150 employees, reports SVT News Småland.

Sawmills in Ramkvilla and Torsås scheduled to be shut down completely. At the same time production in Mönsterås and Värö pulled down. The company also plans to sell the sawmill Djursdala.

Yet no notice exists and it is part of the company hope that the employees affected by the cutbacks will be able to get jobs in other parts of the group.

– Ramkvilla is, for example, near a place called Korsberga, where we have a subsidiary that builds houses. So there may be opportunities for people to find new jobs, says Södra Communications Annika Gerentz said.

– We are watching course on how we can relocate people.

Meanwhile the South, which is also Sweden’s largest forest owner association, to invest in expanded production in several locations, which could mean about 50 new jobs.

– We have been struggling with poor profitability for quite a long time and made some changes during the last year. But now we have taken a structural approach and choose to simultaneously invest. Sawmill is our core business and it is important for us and our forest owners, says Annika Gerentz.
