At least 100 people have been killed as a result of a fault in the ignition in some General Motors vehicles including the Pontiac G5 and Chevrolet HHR, writes The New York Times. Previously it was known that 13 people were killed.
The cars’ ignition could not be turned off while driving, which could cause the steering, brakes and airbags stopped working.
Although the company knew of the error it took a long time for the 2.6 million cars were recalled.
