Banks change the procedures for criticism – Radio Sweden

Both Nordea and Handelsbanken takes seriously the Financial Supervisory criticism that they have not done enough to combat money laundering. Banks are now making big changes in their routines.

Emma Rheborg is Communications at Nordea and she promises that the bank should invest much more.

Johan Wallqvist is Handelsbanken’s press officer and he says that the bank has already made improvements in the control and scrutiny, but that they will do even more.

– We are very serious criticism from the Financial Supervisory Authority and we have taken a lot of steps along the way, and when the measures still to be implemented as soon as possible.

Financial Supervisory General Counsel Per Håkansson agree that both banks have now begun to take hold of the problem.

– There are certainly flaws remain, but the banks are working ambitiously to remedy the deficiencies and that is exactly what we expect of them, he says.
