Sweden retirees could lose awaited hundred pieces next year on a new brake introduced in the pension system.
The question of when the new system is to be launched divides the parties in the pension group – in today decided the battle.
– pensioner organizations are critical of the introduction 2016, when they receive a lower pension than has previously been said. It is important that we listen to criticism, says Mats Persson (FP).
In January, Minister for Social Annika Strandhäll (S) that the government agreed with the four bourgeois parties to amend the so-called “brake” in the pension system.
How much a person gets into an income based on their own income, but also on the stage of progress of society. In bad times, when the pension system goes back and its assets will be less than the liabilities, hit the brake in and payments to pensioners will be lower.
All the parties in the parliamentary pension group which the government parties and the alliance parties sitting with, are agree that the current system is too jerky and make it difficult for pensioners to plan their finances.
The timing divides the group
The purpose of the new system is a more even development where it should not play equal role for pensioners if there is a boom or recession. The power of both increases and reductions should be less.
But despite the group agrees basically it has had to battle in an important issue. It’s about when the new system to take effect, which is the earliest possible date shall be 1 January 2016. Today, meet you for a meeting and the aim is to make a decision.
If the system is introduced next year, it would lead to the raising of the income pension would be lower than planned, which received the Pensioners’ National Organization to rage. They say that it involves SEK 700 less in your wallet for those who have been SEK 12 000 in retirement. In addition, mean that pensioners long been looking forward to the rise when one got a cut as late as 2014.
It also has fire support of the Liberal Party previously indicated that it objected to the introduction next year but want to postpone it 2018. This means that the issue divides both pension group and the bourgeois parties.
“We must listen to criticism”
Mats Persson, Liberal Party member of the group, would not comment directly on negotiations, but says:
– pensioner organizations are critical of the introduction 2016, when they receive a lower pension than has previously been said. It is important that we listen to criticism from them and is eager to pensioners bit on the system.
Solveig Zander’s Centre Party’s representative. She feels, however, that the new system should be introduced as soon as possible.
– It is important that pensioners should know what they have to comply. Since it is about improving the system, and the sooner we do it, the better, she says.
She says she is well aware that the increase is lower for pensioners next year.
– But it also means that you get more at other times when it would have been less.
Even Christian Democrat Representative Lars Gustafsson wants the new system quickly on site. He believes that over time would pensioners lose out if that is not the case.
– You get more in the beginning is now, according to the forecast. But it would also mean that the payment period is one percent lower for pensioners and I thought it was more important to the whole period was counted.
Social Security Minister Annika Strandhäll would not comment on the matter, arguing that the issue is discussed in Pension Group.
