EMU Final CPI was 0.0% annual rate in April, expected 0.0%

(SIX) Consumer prices (CPI) EMU was unchanged at an annual rate during April. The monthly rate of CPI rose 0.2 percent, in line with expectation. It appears from the final statistics from Eurostat. The market had expected an annual rate of 0.0 percent, which also was the preliminary outcome. In March, consumer prices fell by unrevised 0.1 percent in annual rate. In April last year the rate was +0.7 percent. The Central Bank's goal of keeping inflation rates below, but close to, 2 percent. Core CPI (excluding energy, food, alcohol and tobacco) increased by 0.6 percent yoy (+0.6 percent last month). The preliminary and expecting the annual rate stood at 0.6 percent. The monthly rate rose core CPI 0.3 per cent, compared with the expected +0.3 per cent. Consumer prices for EU countries was unchanged at an annual rate of in April, compared with unrevised 0.1 percent in March. IN April of the year before the low rate of +0.8 percent.
