Greek port close to sold – Swedish Dagbladet

Cosco already operates two terminals at the port for containers.

– We are in advanced discussions to enhance cooperation, including in relation to the rail network, says the Greek Defense Minister Panos Kammenos at a conference in Athens.

Kammenos is the leader to the right-wing populist party Anel, also known as the Independent Greeks. Anel is part of the coalition government with the left-wing leader Alexis Tsipras as the Prime Minister runs the country since January.

The Greek Government has previously announced that it invited three companies, including COSCO, to bidding on a majority stake in the port of Piraeus.

Tsipras won an election in January on vows to unravel the EU and IMF demands for reform in Greece, which financed themselves with emergency loans since in 2010.
