Amazon surprised the market with a better interim report than expected in the fourth quarter.
E-commerce giant reported a net profit of $ 214 million, or 45 cents per share, for the fourth quarter. Analysts had only expected a profit of 17 cents per share.
The result compares with a net profit of $ 239 million, 51 cents per share, the same period a year ago.
Amazon’s revenue landed at $ 29.3 billion, which was slightly worse than analysts had expected.
