Neighbor Feud not good for the heart – Swedish Dagbladet

Neighbor Feud not good for the heart – Swedish Dagbladet

Researchers at the University of Michigan has followed more than 5,200 people, 50 and older, for four years. Before the study, they rate their relationships with neighbors from different perspectives.

When the study was evaluated, it was found that those who felt they had better neighbors were at an 18 percent lower risk of heart attack compared to those who sat lower grades on the neighbors, say the researchers in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health.

But the connection was not statistically significant, which is why Michael Hoffman, director of the Foundation for Pharmacoepidemiology, Nepi, considers that the results should be interpreted with caution .

– There are several epidemiological studies as well as this points to a possible connection between neighborliness and infarction risk. What is the chicken or the egg in it, one can however consider. Can other problems causing infarction, such as mental illness, also cause a lack of neighborliness?
