State for one of the people who fell ill with pneumonia during the construction of Gärstadverket in Linköping has deteriorated. The patient was moved Friday to a special unit at the Karolinska Hospital in Stockholm.
The patient is cared for now in a so-called ECMO machine used for particularly difficult cases. According to the county medical Britt Åkerlind in Region Östergötland, these are on a normal pulmonary inflammation-bacterial, affecting this particular person extra hard.
It was just over a week ago that several people working on the new Lion boiler at Gärstadverket, fell ill with pneumonia. In total, six people received hospital treatment for the disease. Some new serious cases have not been discovered, and according to British Åkerlind it is now believed that the spread will be over.
