Earth Hour switch off lights and Social Media – Swedish YLE

In the evening organized the annual event, Earth Hour.

WWF urges everyone to turn off the lights in the evening, starting at 20:30 Finnish time . New this year is that the WWF also urges people to avoid social media during Earth Hour.

Many restaurants arrange ecological dinners by candlelight in the evening, and also many cities and companies are involved in the campaign.

Yle participate by turning off the tower in Pasila, with the exception of warning lights for aircraft.

This year, Earth Hour also about the food’s carbon footprint. According to the World Wildlife Fund is food for about a fifth of mankind’s carbon emissions. This can be influenced by replacing some of the meat with vegetables and not to throw away food unnecessarily.
