Stenberg also points forward elcykeln as a means of transportation for commuters who need a little exercise but do not want to arrive sweaty to work.
– People are starting to bike commute from all long distance and then it might be nice to have some help sometimes when you come to an uphill battle.
There has also been a technology development. The batteries have improved and there has been new, more efficient drive systems. The major bike manufacturers, including Crescent and Monark, now has electric bikes in its range. But one must be prepared to pay more for an electric bicycle. Prices start at 10 000 and they are e-bikes, which costs 25,000 to 30,000 crowns.
Rebecca Karlsson has owned an electric bicycle since 2010 and speaks warmly of its benefits.
