The Swedish Tax Agency has launched a fierce scrutiny of people running for the taxi service Uber. So far, 54 people upptaxerats, and will probably be more, writes Dagens Industri.
– We are just at the beginning of the process. This will surely continue throughout the fall, says Susanna Bengtsson, who is responsible for the Tax Agency’s control of the taxi industry, the DI.
The drivers’ fees are channeled through übers subsidiaries in the Netherlands and is beyond the reach of Swedish authorities. But Uber has given the Swedish Tax income information for all drivers and companies who used the service in Sweden last year, which resulted in the re-assessment, some of which were severe.
A person for example, had reported a total income of 4700 crowns for 2015, but had driven over 4000 travel and taxable incomes increased by 114 000 SEK from the Swedish Tax Agency.
