Billion pin for Paris tourism – Västerbotten Courier

Terrorist acts, strikes and flooding have led many foreign tourists not to travel to Paris this year. The loss of revenue during the first half of the year is estimated at about 750 million euros, equivalent to more than seven billion, according to the Paris region tourist board.

“It is time to realize that the tourism sector is undergoing an industrial disaster,” said Tourism Council chief Frederic Valletoux, according to a press release.

He added that information campaigns will not be able to reverse the trend – it is needed now is a rescue plan. Among other things, required substantial investment in jobs in the tourism industry are not lost, according Valletoux, which requires the government to urgently address the problem.
