Strong for years VW

Even Volvo’s competitor Volkswagen made a strong sales year in Sweden.

With 44,947 registered vehicles and a market share of 14.8 percent – an increase of 14.1 per cent – could Volkswagen note one of its best years ever. Best selling models in 2014 were Golfing with 16,857 registered cars.

– We can rejoice in this record that we have also achieved in a time when competition has probably never been harder on the car market, says Sten Forsberg, Director, Volkswagen in Sweden.

One trend during the year has been super clean cars. According to statistics, more than 4600 cars with carbon dioxide emissions of 50 g / km sold in Sweden. There is a threefold increase over the preceding year.

– The registrations could have been even higher if not allocated funds to super clean cars had run out during August and no information from politicians to award more money did not come until the absolute last working day of the year, says BIlswedens President, Bertil Molden.

Weaker 2015

The forecast for 2015 is fainter. Bilsweden expect that 290,000 cars and 41,000 light trucks will be recorded.

– 2014 was a very strong year for car sales with 304,000 new cars, which is an increase of 13 percent compared with 2013, and the seventh best year ever for passenger cars, since we started measuring in 1946. Even light trucks went very strongly, increasing by 12 percent to 42,000 vehicles. This means that 2014 was the third best year so far for light trucks, says Bertil Molden.
