The peasants in revolt: “The countryside disappear” – Aftonbladet

Today protesting Swedish farmers against conditions in agriculture.

In several places in the country driving tractors in the motorcade and is set in public places.

– This is to stop the urbanization. Sweden is larger than the big city. Is continuing it this way, we have no countryside left, says the farmer Fredrik Nordin.

Some 50 farmers have arrived at Sundsvall after creating long queues his tractor motorcade on E4. Some of the farmers have run a distance of 15 mil with their slow-moving vehicles to participate in what they call the rural insurgency.

“Gotta have no bounds”

Several times in the past, farmers have made common thing and engaged in similar uprisings to protest against the conditions in agriculture.

According to Fredrik Nordin, Vice President of the rural peasant uprising and get a dairy farmer a day out of business. Sweden’s rural areas are being eroded.

– Without farmers, there’s no rural at all, and soon it is impossible to live in rural areas, he says, and says that when the farmers disappear suffer even Swedish shops and other jobs .

– We want people to start buying Swedish food imports must have some kind of stopped, says Fredrik Nordin.

Dras unprofitable

Skara Vimmerby, Östhammar and Jonkoping are just some of the 20 locations in Sweden where the farmers speak up. Poor profitability which Swedish farmers are not paid equivalent compared to foreign competitors, despite the higher standards, are the main reason that today they will continue their protests.

Åsa Augustsson, dairy farmer outside of Skara, went through the city with about 60 other farmers. She is shifting its production to Kravmärkt to get a few extra pennies for the milk.

– Right now it’s tougher than ever. During the conversion period, I get nothing extra. We must cut down on everything, she says.

She and her husband, who also works as a farmer, can take out about 10 000 per month in salary. The rest goes to run the farm.

– It is sad that it can not turn around sometime. Politicians do not understand the seriousness, says Åsa Augustsson.

The EU assistance disbursed she describes as “a drop in the ocean”.

“Terribly heavy”

– It is totally unacceptable that we send money out of the country. Sweden buys as much food. One can imagine a step further if there would be war, self-sufficiency rate has dropped slightly copiously, says Fredrik Nordin.

Through the implementation of these protests, farmers have had discussions with Agriculture Minister Sven-Erik Bucht (S) but Nordin believes that concrete results have failed to materialize.

– In the dairy side, it is terribly heavy, it lost a farmer every day. I see a frightening development, says Fredrik Nordin.
