US President Barack Obama has arrived in Argentina for a two-day visit. The hope is to restore diplomatic ties and strengthening trade relations after a long period of chilly relations during former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner’s leftist government.
Obama’s visit marks the United States’ support for the new president Mauricio Macri shift in economic policy. During his first 100 days in power, Macri including the loosening of capital controls and trade restrictions, cut energy subsidies and reached a settlement with the US lender that sued the country for unpaid debts.
Obama family was met with Argentine Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra when they landed in Buenos Aires. On Wednesday, waiting for talks with Macri and the subsequent press conference.
