New Skottorp Danish ownership – Laholms newspaper

Vallberga One of Denmark’s largest pig farmers bought the New Skottorp. From Monday owns Peter Kjaer Knudsen farm and its extensive production of pigs for slaughter.

Gösta Paulsson has owned and operated the farm since 1994, and had it for sale for about 4 years.
– It’s partly positive and partly a missing. I’ve been working on this for many years.
When the decision to sell was made was the crisis in the pig industry and not easy to find a new owner.
Times have now turned to the Swedish pig producers.

The Danish has however tough. There is a reason why Peter Kjaer Knudsen bought the company Edenberga farm outside Vallberga AB, which in addition to operations in New Skottorp also includes Värestorps pig farm.
He sees the stricter Swedish animal welfare rules, and the fact that the industry succeeded in getting consumers to want to pay for the additional costs incurred by them, as reasons why it is better for his Swedish colleagues.
– There is a large demand for Swedish pig meat, he says.
Peter Kjaer Knudsen has been looking farm in Sweden for a short time and found the New Skottorp by coincidence. He was pheasant hunting in Sweden and asked if anyone knew a Swedish pig farm that was for sale. Then someone mentioned Paul’s farm.

When he made contact with Gösta Paulsson and broker Per-Erik Johanson sewed together the deal in six weeks. How big the purchase price is not one of them say.
Knudsen will not move and the family to Sweden but remain in Roskilde, where he runs a business with 2,300 sows and 70,000 fattening pigs per year. Annual sales are approximately 100 million Danish kroner. He says it is one of Denmark’s largest pig business.
The Swedish unit, one of his employees to the boss for. All existing staff will continue working.

– I like to travel. And so I plan to start playing golf. Time has not been sufficient in the past, says Gösta Paulsson.
