Tourists are frightened away from France – Västerbotten Courier

Economy. The giant French tourism industry is now beginning to see the grim consequences of the terrorist attacks as the country suffered the past few years. Long-haul tourists come in ever smaller numbers.

The number of nights that foreign tourists spent in the French hotel during the first seven months has dropped by 10 percent compared with the same period in 2015, says the French Tourism Minister Matthias Fekl to Le Journal du Dimanche according to Reuters news agency.

according Fekl the decline seen in part as a reaction to the terrorist attacks that occurred against the country, including 130 dead in Paris in November, and 85 people killed in the truck attack in Nice in July.

It’s mainly tourists from the US, Asia and countries around the Persian Gulf – the very groups who usually spend the most – who missed the French hotels. Tourists from Europe, which represents about 80 percent of all tourists who visit France, however, will continue to visit the country, says Fekl.

Additional reasons to tourists fail, according to connoisseurs due to a more negative image of France now spread. In the spring, there have been many, large and sometimes violent street demonstrations in Paris and other cities. And the Asian tourists who are victims of including robbery has attracted attention.

As recently as last Friday reported a Saudi princess that she had been robbed of a watch valued at one million euros on a street in Paris.
