– We see ourselves as a newcomer and a low contender. It is an exciting project and it feels really good, says Ralph Axelson, CEO of Gotland boat.
The ferry offers a total of 150 000 places for travelers during the period April to September, on the routes Nynäshamn-Visby and Västervik and Visby.
– We have managed to run 150 trips and so far both the weather and the technology has been with us. We started in April with driving on weekends, but then in June we run daily, says Ralph Axelson.
Johan Lindvall is the Marketing Manager at Destination Gotland many years operating ferries on the same route.
– Competition has led to that we had to sharpen our product, our marketing and service. We’ve driven more price promotions this year. If we lost customers, we do not know at present, he said.
But Ralph Axelson says Gotland boat not started ferry service to take market share from the Destination Gotland.
– we do it primarily to increase tourism to the island. We want to build a total market and get more visitors to the island. Tourism is the island’s future, and prices have been squeezed as a result of the competition, he said.
