Consumer prices did not encounter förväntingarna – Business World

The Swedish consumer price index (CPI) rose by 0.1 percent compared with the previous month, according to data from Statistics Sweden. The annualized CPI was +1.0 percent, compared with 0.6 percent the month before.

Analysts’ expectations were that the annual growth would be + 1.1 percent monthly rate of +0.2 percent , according to SIX News compilation of ten analysts’ estimates. Expectations for the annual rate ranged between +0.9 to +1.2 percent with a median of +1.1 percent.

“The increase (in annual terms, SIX notes) contributed mainly electricity (6.9 percent) by 0.3 percentage points. Price increases in the indices of depreciation (6.9 percent), miscellaneous goods and services (3.1 percent) and clothing and footwear (3.0 percent) contributed with 0.2 percentage points each, “writes Statistics Sweden.

“the increase was offset by lower prices for telecommunications services and equipment (-21.5 percent) and lower interest expenses (-7.9 percent) that affected the inflation rate by 0.2 percentage points each,” continues authority.

the underlying inflation, measured as the CPIF (inflation at constant rates) was +1.5 per cent annually, compared with +1.1 percent the month before. Analysts had expected an annual rate of +1.5 percent.

The monthly rate for the CPIF was +0.1 percent, compared with analyst expectations at +0.2 percent.

the inflation rate according to CPIF excluding energy was +1.5 percent. Month rate was +1.4 percent. The monthly rate was CPIF excluding energy 0.1 percent.

Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices, HICP, stood at +1.2 percent yoy (+0.8 percent the previous month).
