We have samples sitting and saturated new Volvo V90 – it feels – Auto Motor & Sport

With the tape measure at the ready, I jump into the new Volvo V90. The notebook filled with details. I compare with the V70, which was measured the day before. Here are all the details you want – and it can be said as of now, the Volvo V90 is a dream for motorist services.

The editor in chief of auto motor & amp; sports, Alrik Söderlind, have no problem finding a good position behind the wheel.

Bredarslade police pistol, batons and bullet-proof vest love Volvo XC70 for a reason: it has comfortable chairs. Good seating comfort has become something of a hallmark for Volvo and in this area you have to deliver.

The new Volvo V90 has the same chairs that we find in the latest generation of the XC90. This means tighter feel, slightly narrower seat width and a lesser depth in the spring under the building. “Old” V70 does not have any excessively soft chairs but there was a generous padding in both width and depth. The seats in the new S90 / V90, then a little tighter, more “German” as some have already termed it. A matter of taste what you prefer.

So when I throw myself down in the V90 and adjust the distance to the steering wheel and pedals is a partially familiar feeling. It feels XC90, only much closer to the ground. The night before, I have been sitting in a Volvo V70 from 2014, and it is of course also familiar. The new V90 brings a completely different experience of sophistication and perceived quality feel. The cars standing in the Royal Garden is of course fully equipped with everything lullull likely. But basically gives the V90 a much nicer experience with fewer buttons, nicer materials and a modern touch.

The Volvo V90 is five centimeters lower than the V70, but 496 centimeters long, a full 15 centimeters longer than the V70 (481 centimeters ). It should be marked, and I begin with that “put me behind myself” in the Volvo V70. With my height of 183 centimeters can I find a comfortable position behind the wheel, and then jump into the back seat. Previously, I have done the same maneuver in a V60 and then quickly found that my kneecaps hit in the driver’s seat back directly.

But the “old” Volvo V70 I a margin to the rear of the backrest (perimeter) of the eight centimeters up to my kneecaps. Not very spacious, but fine nonetheless. The head is quite close to the ceiling but I bet not. Approved.

Now I do the same maneuver in the new Volvo V90. Comfortable ride back and then over to the back seat. When the feeling is quite another – spacious, high ceilings and plenty of space. You sit quite low in the V90 and it remains to see how it feels on long trips. Kneecaps angled upwards, but when I take out the tape measure proved the subjective feeling – 16 centimeters by the backrest.

Now there was no longer colleague available but I’m guessing that even a person on 190-195 centimeters can sit decently well in the back seat of a Volvo V90. The difference between 8 and 16 centimeters at the kneecaps is great. Very large. The distance upward between the head and the ceiling in the V90 are perceived as large, even with the panoramic roof in glass. Laterally get close encounter if I tilted his head towards the C-pillar, but sits well in a normal position.

Volvo spokesmen in place admits bluntly that they would have been able to get to a better cargo space by moving the rear seats . But Volvo chose a better comfort in the back seat in front of a few extra liters of luggage volume. The rear seat is not adjustable longitudinally, as it is in the XC90. In addition, the division is now limited to 60/40 with a ski hatch in the middle. Not 40/20/40 which is now quite common.

There will thus be a small minus deductions for inferior division of the back seat, but at the same time should be said that after crafting with the headrests can get a almost completely flat load space. In the next article we will look closely at the cargo volume and the dimensions of the V90. Compared to the V70 have the space for cargo become both smaller and larger. Mazy? Yep – join us so we declare!

In Sweden, Volvo will preserve its market share and it does so by creating V90-service cars on the 7.5 base with attractive equipment. It is more or less forced to because the next generation V60 and XC60 are a few years away. Those who think that the V90 is too big / expensive are likely to choose V60 or XC60, but in anticipation of the new cars must V90 fill the void left by the V70.

If you want a V90 therefore is a unique opportunity to turn to the next few years. The forecast is that the V90 increases in price and equipment level for a few years when the new V60 and XC60 rolls out. In countries other than Sweden gets V90 priced at a higher level to match their competitors. Volvo V90 new place in the parlor, and are not ashamed at all to charge.

It is a big leap in perceived quality feel of a V70 and the Volvo V90. This specimen has all the accessories and additionally light trim, neat but perhaps not so practical. But Volvo promises a good level even on the models that are targeting car market in Sweden. CLICK ON IMAGE FOR LARGER VERSION

The big touch screen does much the modern feel and reduces the need for buttons and knobs in the rest of the instrumentation. The same screen that we find in the XC90. Ventilationsutblåsen on the sides give a little retro feel. But as we see, the screen will both dusty and full of fingerprints. CLICK ON IMAGE FOR LARGER VERSION

It is in the back seat as you experience the big differences to the V70. The space from the kneecaps until the backrest is generous, even for those who are really long. Editor in Chief Alrik Söderlind have no problem finding the right job satisfaction, even if you’re sitting right low and thus gets his knees up. Perhaps not optimal in the long journey?
