What does Malmo FF’s Champions League game?
If you look down in the club’s cash-2015 to find a financial gain of nearly a quarter of a billion crowns.
– We have right now a financial special position in Swedish football, says Chairman Håkan Jeppsson.
Malmo FF was in 2015 a double in sporting . For the second consecutive year the club reached the Champions League group stage – but at the same time there was only a modest fifth place in the Allsvenskan table.
The annual report shows the importance of the European game clearly.
Revenues of over half a billion
For the first time ever Malmo FF revenues of over half a billion crowns, which is an increase of 100 million compared with the year before.
Plus the result ends up at a staggering 235 million before tax. Liquid assets at year end was less than 285 million.
– It is a remarkable, almost unbelievable result for being a Swedish football club, says Chairman Håkan Jeppsson Sportbladet.
89 million on sales
the net income for the Champions League game in 2015 will end up just under 200 million, including ticket sales and, as expected, a large part of record profits. Without it, expensive player sales, the result would have been completely different.
– Would you deduct Europe and some unusually large player sales, it’s about a few million less, which means that you realize how important it is to reach these the success of being able to invest in the future, says Jeppsson.
Malmo FF drew SEK 89 million on player sales during the year, where Magnus Eriksson, Isaac Kiese Thelin and Emil Forsberg gave very large amounts.
“You catch your breath”
Now in 2016 a different year …
– There will be. Of course you always want to play in Europe, but there have also been two hugely intense years with big plays and turnovers much pressure on the organization to become a Europalag faced the biggest clubs. Sometimes you need to come to some sort of plateau, catch your breath and build new ones. The opportunity we have now. I feel we have evolved tremendously in these two years and now we will try to take advantage of the 2016 and show that we are Sweden’s best football team again.
What do you think the other Allsvenskan clubs thinking when they see these numbers?
– I do not think they think so much. But of course, football itself is not very profitable. We see several clubs Helsingborg and Gothenburg struggling with her. They may well dream of this money. On the other hand, we have fought extremely hard in the first years of our stadium to survive it. It goes up and down and in a few years, it is someone else who is sitting there and shine. Then we cast covetous glances at them. READ ALSO … and now they can take the historic decision
