The Volvo Group has signed a definitive agreement for the sale of IT operations to the Indian company HCL Technologies.

Volvo IT has nearly 150 employees in Eskilstuna. Of those working more than 30 businesses involved in the deal with HCL. The activities concerned involved in external IT supplies, infrastructure and operational services to the Volvo Group.

– These are offered employment by HCL. Other employees are not affected and remain at Volvo, says Olle Högblom, director of the Volvo Group’s IT services.

Volvo and HCL signed last fall a declaration of intent to implement the deal. The reason that Volvo management wanted to sell was to be held that the external IT activities do not belong to the Group’s core business.

The deal will, according to Volvo involve both long-term cost savings and a gain equivalent to SEK 900 million. The capital gain affects the Volvo Group’s operating profit and net financial debt positively.

In total 2600 employees within the Volvo Group of ownership.
