The Swedish Migration Board’s identification unit in Solna reviews all identification documents that applicants submit. But the device has fallen behind – in June waited 15 000 cases from last year, only counted Syrians and stateless, being checked, reports the Daily News.
– There will be long waits, even for the cases that are difficult to investigate. We can not write any decision until we have received approval from the identification unit that documents look okay, says an asylum officers magazine talked to.
The purpose of the ID unit is to look for counterfeits. Last year, sent around 60,000 documents to the device, these were between 6-7 percent false.
