Greece seeking new loans from the IMF – Hufvudstadsbladet

The IMF confirms that Greece has applied for a new loan of the Fund. – We will discuss the timing and the Guidelines for discussions with the Greek authorities and our European partners, the IMF said in a brief statement on Friday evening.

Earlier on date announced, Greek Minister of Euklidis Tskalotos that the Greeks have applied for a new loan, while the government should negotiate with the country’s creditors about a third support programs.

The Greek government had ursrungligen hoped for to cope without new IMF assistance while planning new major savings and reforms. But the Greeks have now seen themselves forced to seek additional help.

– We wish to inform you that we have applied for a new loan from the IMF, writes in a letter from the Minister of Finance Tskalotos to IMF chief Christine Lagarde .

Negotiations on a third support programs have been initiated in Athens on Friday, but was postponed when not yet found a safe venue for the talks.
