The forecast for next year is clear – pensions should be increased substantially. – Aftonbladet

The forecast for next year is clear – pensions should be raised considerably.

According to the Pension Authority will be raised by 4.2 percent.

– We’re talking a number of hundred pieces more in the wallet, says Annika Strandhäll (S).

Next year sees the pensioners out to be winners. Pension Authority today gave notice that pensions will be increased by 4.2 percent next year, 2016. There will be an average of SEK 340 more per month, after taxes.

– It is very, very good, says Minister for Social Security Annika Strandhäll.

Higher housing

At the same time the base amount reduced by 0.4 percent, roughly 200 crowns. This means that the persons with the lowest pensions, the only guarantee pension, receive 30 kronor less per month.

But, according to Annika Strandhäll it will be despite the reduction not inferior to those with low pensions because they may have access to the reduced levy and the housing supplement to be increased by about 100 per month.

– This will provide a good development for our seniors. So much fun, she says.

It was the government’s summer break at Thursday Annika Strandhäll talked about how the new increase will not “become a good insurance policy” for pensioners.

Historic Decision

Even Christina Tallberg, Chairman of the National Pensioners’ Organization, PRO, is pleased with the news.

– We think it is gratifying to finally get a raise, it means a lot to many seniors . Especially for those with low pensions that will have a necessary supplement, she said.

Pension brake which was tightened in 2009 has meant that pensions reduced and reduced. But it means that this will be historic: now pensions will better again.

– This ought to give the best development for pensions since the new pension scheme was introduced, says Annika Strandhäll.

Lower taxes

Long-term-round decision means that pensioners have up to SEK 12 000 in retirement will not have to pay higher taxes than workers. Which they previously had to do.

– This teaches even out this issue with how much we pay in taxes, compared with workers, says Christina Tallberg.

However, the PRO is completely satisfied with the increase of the housing supplement. According to them, it is too little, especially given how home prices constantly going up.

– We believe that this increase is too low. If you are single and you have still a very crispy life, she says.
