Mätbolaget Nielsen decided this week to back a campaign of so-called “promoted tweets” since Nielsen Ads shown together with pornographic profile pages.

According to Twitter, this was due to a bug, but Nielsen is not alone to see their marketing end up in pornographic flows. Even companies that pharmacy and emergency store chain Duane Reade, NBC Universal and Gatorade, according to Adweek been through the same thing.

Robert Peck, an analyst at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, has previously warned that brand advertisers will reduce its advertising on Twitter about porn problem becomes more known. His estimate is that there are now nearly 10 million Twitter accounts that are dedicated to pornography.

Twitter fell sharply in New York when the report for the first quarter published on 28 April. Sales were lower than analysts had expected and the company’s forecast for the second quarter was also far below market expectations.
