Purchasing Managers Index, which reflects economic activity in the service sector, rose to 55 , 6 in September, compared with 54.2 months before.
“The third quarter was marked by strong demand, partly indicated by rising orders partly by rising business volume,” writes Swedbank and Silf, which produces Purchasing Managers Index, in a press release.
Purchasing Managers’ Index is based on interviews with about 200 purchasing managers in the services industry. An index number above 50 is considered to indicate growth.
The other day the corresponding index for the industry, which showed increased growth.
