Five quarantine airports are ready – Swedish Dagbladet

The plane is redirected to a quarantine of five airports that are ready.

In both the UK and the United States has more airports began screening passengers landing from the Ebola affected areas in West Africa. So far it is not up to date in Sweden, partly because it is not possible a few direct flights from the areas hit.

However, there are strict rules about a passenger on board a flight heading to Sweden suspected Ebola infection.

– It is always the captain of the aircraft who is responsible if they suspect that there is an infected traveler. Then they alert the air traffic control tower where they are headed, says Ulf Wallin, Press Officer at Arlanda.

The plane then redirected to one of the five quarantine airports that already exists, if it was not already on the way to one of them. It’s Arlanda, Landvetter, Malmö Airport, Umeå and Jönköping.

Once it has landed, it must not be driven to the pier, remaining at the airport.

– The Medical Director physician in the county where the plane landed is called to the airport. No one may leave or board the plane before the doctor has made an assessment, says Wallin.
