Bankers Association to tighten repayments on mortgages even more – Swedish Dagbladet

– We believe that 50 percent is a good level for us to achieve a healthy repayment culture in Sweden, comments Bankers Association President Thomas Östros adding:

– We have also initiated a dialogue with the authorities concerned on the rate at which repayments should be made.

It was in March this year that Bankers Association and its members decided to extend their amortization recommendation to apply to new loans with an LTV of 70 percent. In addition, all new mortgage customers since mid-individual repayment plan from the bank.

Now, therefore Banking Association amortization on new mortgages tightened even more.

– We want to work for it in a healthy personal finance should be natural for borrowers to pay off their mortgage in order to reduce their economic vulnerability, says Östros in a press release.

Bankers Association president believes that many households do not build up the buffer that may be necessary to have if economic conditions change.

– Therefore, we will go one step further so that more mortgage holders amortise their loans, said Thomas Östros.
