Earlier this year, Volvo Cars revealed that the company will produce a pure electric car that will be on the market in 2019. Most of the million “electrified” cars that is now spoken of, however, will be hybrids. In the three model series 40, 60 and 90 there will be two hybrids in each writes Volvo Cars in a press release.

“It is a conscious ambitious goal. It will be a challenge, but Volvo would be in forefront of the transition to electrification, “says CEO Hakan Samuelsson.

the electric cars are part of a sustainability program (sustainabilty) Volvo cars launches on Thursday. To underline Volvo’s Swedish roots program launched internationally under the name “Consideration”.

Other parts of the program’s goal of 2020, no one who goes in a new Volvo killed or seriously injured in traffic. That same year, the goal is that 35 percent of all leadership positions in the company to be held by women.

“Sustainability is nothing new or anything that we handle outside the ordinary business, it is an integral part of everything we do” says Håkan Samuelsson.
