Several trade supports Painters’ Union – Sveriges Radio

Seko Chairman Janne Ruden tell of their notice that would block mail and package handling to and from a dozen major paintings if it trips.

– We want to help the painters to bring more pressure so that the negotiations will up in order to get a solution to the conflict, and that the painters to have a collective agreement they can live with.

Prior to the notices had LO a board meeting. The attendance around the painters were great, says Janne Ruden.

– Yes, there are a hundred percent support for their negotiations and their conflict to keep their payroll system.

Painters’ Union went on strike on 8 April. On Friday, April 22, extended it. Painting Companies have also added a lockout notice which takes effect on Friday.

Seko, Property, Ekektrikerna and Construction sympathy notice about the strike and blockade in the respective industry. All hitting the paintings if no paint agreements are in place.

Meanwhile, negotiations between the parties continued today, and employers Painting Companies’ CEO Bjorn Hellman is strongly critical of the escalation.

– it is hard to negotiate under threat.

How is it, when you think you have a contract ready?

– We has called our major negotiating delegations from both sides until tomorrow, Wednesday. Hopefully we’ll reach an agreement within a few days but it’s hard to say. We do not negotiate under further threat, then it will be difficult to get through, says Björn Hellman.

The conflict is about the chord. Employers want only the companies that uses chords salaries to fund the payroll system, for it costs money to measure the chord. The union says that it aims to remove the chord.

– We want to maintain and strengthen the chord, but change the measuring rate, says Björn Hellman.

LO chairman Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson hitherto lain low during the strikes also go out and support the painters of the day.

– this is an attack on their payroll system that is completely unacceptable. They have the backing of all LO unions to keep their payroll systems, he says.
