Mobile Customers are fairly faithful to their operators and the change in market shares between the four major market, Telia, Tele2, Telenor and Three, tend to stick around one percentage point each year. However, it is not the same as the lack of competition. Subscription forms constantly changing and operators are constantly looking for new ways to attract customers and retain existing ones.
Large amounts of data
Three introduced last year free surfing on music services such as Spotify TIDAL, Deezer others. Now counter Telia is the first operator in the world, with free surfing on social media like Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp Messenger and others without burdening the data pool. In both cases it is about very large amounts of data that operators offers customers. Various studies estimate that networks account for 15-30 percent of the data traffic.
– The social networks are an important part of the communication pattern today, it is the glue of family life puzzle and among the most important we deliver to customers, communication with family and close friends. It does not mean that we change our fundamental business model is all about mobile data. We will still have different sizes of our data buckets, said Jonas Hasselberg, head of Telia’s Consumer business.
Negative side of the net
Telia’s offer, however, a small subject . To get to surf freely customer must “promise to be Cool” and not engage näthat. Telia collaborates anti-bullying organization Friends and operates campaign #hatahat for “a more loving internet.” Some checks on customers post on the networks, however, Telia did not do.
– We really want to take a clear position on what we think is a cool online behavior. Although everyone loves social networks, there is a negative side to näthat and bullying is not okay, said Jonas Hasselberg.
