Volvo accelerates Tuve – Göteborgs-Posten

Volvo exceeds expectations and is now increasing production in Tuve factory – about it also means new jobs remains to be seen. According to a new survey, the Volvo Group now also Sweden’s most prestigious companies.

The Volvo Group has had a mixed first quarter. Both sales and earnings and order intake for trucks drops compared to the same period last year – but the drop is significantly less than the market analysts had expected.

In addition, continuing truck market in Europe will increase and it will now have a positive impact on the Tuve factory. The production rate will be raised from 60 to 75 units per day to meet the strong demand. If it also requires new hires in Gothenburg is currently under investigation.

– We are in the midst of the work to look at how production changes affect the various factories. I will therefore return to this matter. But a production increase of 25 per cent is of course always positive, says Volvo CEO and President Martin Lundstedt.

He described the quarter as “decent”.

– We have handled volatility the various markets good, for example we have managed to deal with the declining demand in North America in a good way. Volvo CE is working on good and it is also good for buses, summarizes Martin Lundstedt.

North America continues then be the big problem child – where more than half in order bookings for trucks over the same quarter last year. In South America and Asia slopes orders received by 9, and 15 per cent. Demand for construction equipment and marine engines also decreases, while order bookings for buses rises. Europe is, with an increase in orders for trucks at 23 percent, as I said to the great light in the report.

– The basic economy in Europe means that our customers now dare to reinvest, says Martin Lundstedt.

First March this year introduced Volvo Group, a new so-called brand-based organization, where the different truck brands Volvo, Renault, Mack and UD now have their own profit responsibility. The aim is to increase profitability. Exactly when the change will take effect at the numbers is now unclear.

– We will see the effects of the gradual the coming time, says Martin Lundstedt.
yesterday also came TNS Sifo’s annual reputation index, where a selection of Swedes rank the companies they think have the highest and lowest, reputation.

Volvo ports in the year at the top, followed closely by Volvo Cars in second place.

– We are very proud of the confidence given to us by the Swedish people. I think it’s because mobility is a key driver of growth and that Volvo is a company many know, that make products that many think is interesting and innovative. We will of course try to manage this in the future, says Martin Lundstedt.

In the word reputation way, according to the index, in including everything from general approval of the companies to the capable management is considered, how well the company is on to keep their promises and how trustworthy they appear in the media.
