Greece had not brought a new proposal at the Eurogroup finance ministers met on Tuesday. But European Council President now says that he wants the euro countries’ leaders decide this evening whether to support a long-term rescue plan for Greece.

Donald Tusk wants euro zone leaders at the Summit decide this evening whether Greece can get a long-term rescue plan by the European Stability Mechanism ESM, say EU sources to the Guardian. A green light for such a decision lies in the hands of Alexis Tsipras and what he said at the meeting, said the source.

President of the Eurogroup and the Netherlands Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem confirmed in a statement after Tuesday’s euro group meeting with finance ministers, that Greece had not brought a proposal for a solution to the previous meeting, in contrast to what they had expected. According Dijsselbloem Greece shall however have promised to deliver a new proposal tomorrow.

But Greece also ask for a new aid package. Dijsselbloem also announced that the Eurogroup finance ministers will hold a conference call tomorrow to discuss a request from Greece for a new support program through the European Stability Mechanism ESM. It is possible that it is the same two-year program that Greece asked about a week ago but Eurogroup took no position to then because of the announced referendum.

But, according to sources of the Financial Times be Greece’s new Finance Minister Euklidis Tsakalotos, although he did not produce a written document, having kept a “good presentation” during the meeting with the other finance ministers.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President François Hollande before tonight’s summit, said an official in the Greek government told Reuters. But Angela Merkel gives a clear message to reporters on location in Brussels.

– There is still no building talks after Sunday’s very clear ‘no’ victory in the Greek referendum, she said to the media in place to report the Guardian.

Merkel ends with a warning that the time for a solution is the key. “It is not a matter of weeks longer, it’s a matter of days.”

Tsipras, who arrived smile to the Brussels meeting, but declined to talk to the media, will also address the European Parliament on Wednesday morning , said European Parliament President Martin Schulz on Twitter.

But it is true that 16 of 18 of the Eurogroup other members would rather see Greece leave the euro group, EU sources say the Greek newspaper Kathimerini, so a solution can be difficult to reach. The 16 countries that are adverse to keeping Greece in the arms also intend to consider the cost of a solution to keep Greece in the currency zone.

With the back of the head to get Angela Merkel and François Hollande’s statement, that it is important also to other euro zone countries show solidarity, of greater importance.
