The Japanese electronics giant Sony now expects a loss of SEK 15 billion, 230 billion yen. The previous forecast was a loss of 50 billion yen. Full impairment is in the business area of mobile communications.
Sony’s goal for the business area mobile communications changes from growth to minimize risk and volatility, and to deliver more stable profits.
At the same time, the company will focus on the premium segment and reduce the number of cell phones in the middle segment, writes electronics giant in a press release.
– The previous plan for middle segment focused primarily on significant sales growth. The new plan (“mid-range plan,” editor’s note.) Has been amended to address the major changes in the market and competition in the mobile business, writes Sony in a press release.
Only in July this summer, Sony lowered its sales forecast for TVs and mobile phones.
2012 Sony took over Ericsson’s share of mobile phone manufacturer Sony Ericsson.
